Ždiar is a picturesque mountain village located in the northeast of Slovakia. Its long history is evident in the tradition of the people and the achitecture of its buildings.
In May 2008, Michael Palin, the English comedian and travel writer, came to film Ždia for his travel series, ‘New Europe’. It was the only destination he visited in Slovakia.
The Tatras Mountain range is the highest in Slovakia. Its diverse landscape and accessibility has made it a popular destination for outdoors enthusiasts and photographers alike.
The moutain range forms a natural border between Slovakia and Poland. The chic Polish resort of Zakopane is only a twenty minute drive away.
During the season we have plenty of choices for you when it comes to eating. Our favourite being the local Pizza Restaurant, Rustica, owned and managed by our good friend, Vlado.
There are many more options for eating in the village, with great food ranging from stuffed chicken and goulash to delicious salads. We have maps of the village with lots of restaurants plotted so you can easily find them.
