Zdiar is a picturesque mountain village located in the north east of Slovakia. Its long history is evident in the traditions of the people and the architecture of its buildings.

In May 2008, Michael Palin, the English comedian and travel writer came to film Zdiar for his travel series, ‘New Europe’. It was the only destination he visited in Slovakia.

The Tatras mountain range is the highest in Slovakia. Its diverse landscape and accessibility has made it a popular destination for outdoors enthusiasts and photographers alike.

The mountain range forms a border between Slovakia and Poland. The chic Polish resort of Zakopane is only a twenty minute drive away
